2018 YOGA BEYOND ASANA PROGRAM
Take your practice to the next level and learn the deeper dimensions of yoga with our enrichment study program Yoga Beyond Asana.

The Yoga Beyond Asana 1 (YBA1) program will progressively reveal the art, science and wisdom of yoga while relating it to daily life for inspiration and transformation. This program will inspire you to become your best self, provide the tools to achieve it, and take you to the heart of yoga.

YBA1 is a 9 month course which includes 9 workshops to be held the second Sunday of each month, from 1:00–4:30 pm, January- May 2018

To reinforce the understanding of the material, the weekly drop-in classes will have themes to support the topics covered in the monthly workshops. There will be two books with suggested reading throughout the course to further support the workshop topics.

Beginning the Journey Inward & the Physical Body- Asana

  • Subtle Body Map
  • Model of the Mind
  • The eight petals of yoga
  • Sacred Syllable Om & 108

Practice: 2:15-3:15pm

  • Fine tuning your asana practice
  • Principles of alignment
  • Developing firmness, lightness, ease, balance, comfort in pain, tapas
  • The Importance of savasana

The Energy Body & The Chakra System- Pranayama

Part 1: 1-2pm

  • Prana as Consciousness
  • Prana Vayus
  • The Bandhas
  • Pranayama practice techniques

Practice: 2:15-3:15pm

Part 2: 3:30-4:30pm

  • 7 Energy Center
  •  The chakras & consciousness
  •  Anatomy of the Chakras
  • Prajna or Insight

Intro to Ayurveda: The Science of Life & the Big Spring Cleanse

  • 5 Element theory
  • 3 Doshas
  • The Ayurvedic clock
  • Prakruti/Purusha
  • What’s Your Constitution?

  • Stoke Your Agni! Improve Your Digestion of Food, Emotions & Life

  • Vedantic Model of the Mind
  • Developing a meditation practice & vichara
  • The higher Self and the small self
  • Samskaras & Vasanas

  • The Four aims of life, “The Four Desires”
  • Dharma & Karma, The creation Equation
  • Sankalpha & vikalpha and choice point

Enrollment in these special programs is limited to 25 students each.

Yoga Beyond Asana 1 is an advanced curriculum study offering which requires enrollment in one of our membership programs.  To participate in either program, a student must be a Prana Yoga Center member and enroll in the entire course.

Program Pricing

  • A one time Materials Fee (2 books, handouts, journal, etc.) $75
  • $50 Monthly Fee to be autobilled for 9 months
