The Accelerated Prairie Yoga + Ayurveda 250 Hour Teacher Training will deepen your own personal practice and prepare you to intelligently teach beginning and intermediate yoga classes from your own heart-felt path. The training is designed for those who want to become yoga teachers as well as for those who want to deepen their own personal practice and immerse themselves in the study of all aspects of yoga. In this specialized program, in addition to the tools and techniques from all eight limbs of yoga, you will learn the basic principles and psychology of Ayurveda and how to apply those concepts to your yoga mat practice and your daily life.

The Eight Limbs of Yoga

  • Yama (social ethics to live in harmony with others)
  • Niyama (personal ethics to live a balanced life)
  • Asana (postures to build strength and flexibility so energy can flow freely)
  • Pranayama (breath control to increase your vital energy)
  • Pratyahara (internalizing the senses to reduce external stimulation)
  • Dharana (developing concentration and focus)
  • Dhyana (sustaining our focus to enter into meditation)
  • Samadhi (Oneness)

Ayurveda (Science of Life)

Yoga and Ayurveda are complementary practices that offer a body of wisdom designed to help people achieve vibrant health and to realize their full human potential.

Learn About Ayurveda
  • Learn the philosophical foundations of Ayurveda or the “Science of Life”
  • Discover how yoga & Ayurveda complementary sciences and support the health of body, mind & spirit
  • Understand the tri-doshic theory of (vata, pitta, kapha) and prakriti (unique elemental nature) and vikriti (current state of imbalance)
  • Understand how the gunas (sattva, rajas, and tamas) influence the state of the mind
  • Learn why prana (life force) & ojas (deep vitality) and agni (digestive fire) define optimal health
  • Apply ayurvedic principles to create a dinacharya (daily routine)
  • Learn asana sequences for dosha imbalance for different ages, seasons, times of day
  • Understand how the physical and subtle body operate together within the context of a foundational ayurveda

  • Integrate the intelligent use of vinyasa (breath-synchronized movement)

  • Refine your teaching language so it is clear and specific

Tricia Fiske, ParaYoga® Level III Certified Teacher

Tricia Fiske, 500 E-RYT YAECP, Level 3 ParaYoga Instructor, has been a teacher since 1999. She is primary faculty for Prairie Yoga’s Teacher Training programs. Tricia is a leader in the west suburban yoga community and continues to train and influence yoga teachers in the area. She has been studying with ParaYoga founder Rod Stryker since 2000 and is one of the first Level 3 certified yoga teachers in the ParaYoga tradition. Read Tricia’s full bio >

lisa bertke

Lisa Bertke, founder & director of Prana Yoga Center, is ParaYoga Level II certified, 500 E-RYT and Certified Ayurveda Specialist from the Himalayan Institute, aboard certified program of the National Association of Ayurveda Medicine. With over 20 years of practice of yoga, meditation and Ayurveda, she continues to study with Rod Stryker, Tricia Fiske, Tias Little, Doug Keller, and Prairie Yoga. Lisa has deep reverence for the practice of yoga and the immense power it has to change lives.
